Reading is essential to kids and even kids at heart. Katherine Patterson once said, “It is not enough to simply teach children to read; we have to give them something worth reading. Something that will stretch their imaginations--something that will help them make sense of their own lives and encourage them to reach out toward people whose lives are quite different from their own.” What better way to entice a kid to start reading than with fables that open their imagination. A fable is a short narrative that uses animals, plants and other inanimate object as characters to teach valuable lessons in life. Fables for kids are easily understood, whether the moral lessons are explicitly or implicitly presented, because the words are written plain and simple. Illustrations can persuade kids to read even more. Kids are drawn to the illustrations and are interested to find out what really happened in the story. But the most important part in a fable, be it told or written, is the moral lesson that the kids must gain in the end.
Most of the well-renowned fables are ascribed to Aesop, a slave who lived in Greece in the sixth century BC. Some of his fables include: The Fox and the Crow, The Goose That Laid the Golden Egg, The Fox and the Grapes, The Ant and the Grasshopper, The Lion and the Mouse, The Boy Who Cried Wolf, The Cat and the Rooster, The Bear and the Bees, The Peacock's Complaint, The Frog and the Ox, The Dog and its Reflection. These fables are specifically aimed to entertain children as well as to inculcate significant life lessons. These lessons are vital as they grow up and take on life's serious businesses. Fables for kids are easily available nowadays through the internet. They maybe be downloaded or printed off. Through the use of technology you can develop your child's passion for reading. Eventually, he might even develop a talent to write his own fable. There are websites especially created for kids to develop their interests in reading while having fun. Reading is essential to kids of all ages, because it opens a world of opportunities and it breaks the barrier of ignorance at no cost. It pays to read. This is a really great thing for your kid so you can get the kids to the place where you want means to the study area. |
